This AMCVIS-D is a 4-crewman digital vehicle intercom system designed for use in military/armored vehicles. In other AMCVIS-D versions, up to 10 crew positions can be supported.
The AMCVIS-D connects all intercom users, and can additional be connected to two, 2-way radios.
The primary components of this system are the Intercom Master Unit (IMU), which relays audio signals between intercom and radio ports, and the Intercom Control Unit, which allow individual users to set their personal listening levels, key the intercom and radios.
The military vehicle intercom system allows users to simultaneously receive audio from other intercom users and the 2-way radios, and to transmit to other intercom users and one of the 2-way radio.
Every intercom user will hear the transmitted audio of every other intercom users, regardless of whether the audio is transmitted over the intercom or radios.
Using the ICU, each user can independently adjust listening volume for each radio and the intercom, and independently select which radios they transmit over.
